Issue 2. 2015 17 Small Business Banker Devel- opment Program (SBBDP) The SBBDP features time-tested skills that provide bankers with the ability to capture, and keep, a business owner’s loy- alty and trust. This program is designed for branch managers, small business bankers, relationship managers, business development officers, and any banker who works with small businesses. Credit administrators who analyze and approve these deals would also benefit. Six class sessions meet twice monthly January through March. Topics include: • Identifying Viable Small Business Lending Candidates • Assessing the Small Business Bor- rower’s Creditworthiness • Making Bank to Business Calls that Matter • Power Prospecting • Relationship Building and Establish- ing the Right Disciplines • Self-evaluation of Your Activities & Making an In-Person RFP Credit Analyst Development Program (CADP) The CADP is intended to help credit analysts, consumer and mortgage lenders, personal bankers, business development officers, loan documentation specialists, and retail branch managers develop the basic analytical and specialized skills needed to effectively support the commer- cial or business lending functions in the bank. This program includes six classes from April to June and covers topics such as: • The Role of a Credit Analyst Within the Bank • Accounting Basics/Refresher • Employing Basic Financial Analysis • Basic Personal & Business Tax Re- turn Analysis • Loan Structure, Documentation, and Compliance • Basics of Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Lending and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Lending n For additional information and to register for any of these programs, visit the UBA website at www.uba.org or call Becky Wilkes at the UBA, 801-214-7724. Graduates of this program emerge as a network of future bank leaders who understand and can respond to local and national issues that impact the banking industry. Commercial Lending Devel- opment Program (CLDP) The CLDP focuses on cultivating a strong foundation in the dynamic and demanding commercial lending arena by identifying key skills required to per- form the specialist function of assessing businesses for loan purposes. The CLDP builds on existing skills and knowledge to provide an overview of all aspects associated with the assessment, type and structure of the loan, as well as build- ing relationships with new and existing clients. Designed for commercial loan officers, relationship managers, business development officers, private bankers and credit analysts looking to take their skills to the next level, the CLDP includes eight sessions and meets twice a month from September to December. Topics include: • Financial Accounting—A Banker’s View • Financial Statement Analysis • Analyzing Personal and Corporate Tax Returns • Cash Flow Analysis • Structure, Documentation and Loan Compliance • Commercial and Industrial Lending • Commercial Real Estate Lending • Marketing/Business Development/ Negotiation Skills
