The fam- ily shelter along with most other shelters are closed on Pioneer Day. This results in the homeless population not being served a meal on this day. Tracy Barnes, the founder of the Bleeding Hearts Founda- tion, heard about these homeless individuals and families back in 2010 and wanted to help by fulfilling this need. The BBQ has become an annual event ever since. This year over 1,100 hot dogs were served along with chips, granola bars, and popsicles with well over a 1,000 bottles of water being distributed. Hundreds of hygiene kits, flip flops, socks, and sunglasses were handed out along with a generous amount of gently used clothing be- ing available free to any of the adults and children attend- ing the event. Brighton Bank and Wadsworth Construction generously provided all the food and water. A group of approximately 40 volunteers cooked, handed out food, restocked sup- plies, and provided a face and ceramic painting station. The Bank and its employees truly lived up to being a com- munity bank that cares about building strong ties with our community. Giving back to the community is part of what defines the Bank, “Developing Relationships. Building Communities.” Millie’s Princess Run 2015 For the third consecutive year, Brighton Bank served as a sponsor for the 2015 Millie’s Princess Run that was held on June 20th in Sugar House Park. Millie's Princess Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support and hope to families affected by childhood cancer, as well as raising awareness about the devastating effects of this disease.
