www.uba.org 10 The 108th Annual Utah Bankers Association Convention T he 108th Annual Utah Bankers Association Convention was held at the Sun Valley Resort in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho June 26-29. Over 350 bankers, guests and business partners attended the event. Special thanks to Drew Yergensen, KeyBank, who was chairman of this year’s event and his committee, Clint Buys, Cache Valley Bank; Colby Dustin, Bank of Utah; Allen Enochson, First Utah Bank; Kent Francis, 1st Bank; Shelly Holt, First National Bank; Tom Morgan, Zions Bank; and Spencer White, Utah Independent Bank. Highlights included the exhibit hall, hosting business partners in thirty five booths. Bankers and families alike enjoyed the fun and inviting atmosphere while business partners had the chance to visit with bank executive management and key decision makers. On Monday, bankers were provided with a fascinating look at the economy provided by Dr. Anne Macy, Edwards Professor of Finance from west Texas A&M University. Dr. Macy is a favorite instructor from Pacific Coast Banking School. Mark Haberland, Darling Con- sulting Group provided attendees with a look at Developing and Implementing Strategically Focused ALM in Preparation for the Next Rate Cycle. He was followed by Jim Stickley, a UBA favor- ite who addressed the hot topic of Cybersecurity. On Tuesday, after a day of recreation, Chairman Jill Taylor hosted a west- ern themed Chairman’s reception and dinner. After dinner, six bankers were recognized with 40 Year Service awards, (see page 11) retiring board members were recognized and LeeAnne B. Linderman was recognized as the Distinguished Banker of 2016. (see page 12). The day was topped off with a concert by country western superstar Collin Raye, sponsored by Zions Bank Corre- spondent Banking Group. On Wednesday the convention wrapped up with presentations by JP Nicols, sponsored by Pacific Coast Banking School on in- novation and dealing with digital disruption. The closing session featured an inspirational message by Lance Allred, the first deaf player in the NBA. It was another great year of networking, education and relationship building. n
