Issue 1. 2017 21 200 barrels of clothing were donated to nine charities across the state of Utah. Bank of Utah and Arctic Circle Restaurants donated 200 barrelsful of warm clothing to nine charities the latter part of December and the first week of January. The bank also donated a total of $3,000 in cash that was divided between the charities. Bank of Utah and Arctic Circle collected new or gently-used coats, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets at their 14 bank locations and 36 restaurants along the Wasatch Front. Arctic Circle gave everyone who donated a certificate for a free Ranch Burger at the restaurants. “I would like to thank our partner, Arctic Circle, as well as every community member that donated to our Warm Bodies, Warm Souls coat drive,” said Douglas L. DeFries, Bank of Utah presi- dent. “The effort generated 200 barrels of coats, gloves, hats and more. Our community has shown incredible support this year and the donations will help several Utah families in need.” Warm Bodies, Warm Souls benefitted the following charities: • Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank - Ogden • The Lantern House - Ogden • The Family Place - Logan • Tremonton Community Pantry - Tremonton • The Family Support Center - Brigham City • Community Action Services and Food Bank - Orem • Crossroads Urban Center - Salt Lake City • The Road Home - Salt Lake City • Bountiful Community Pantry – Bountiful For more information on Bank of Utah, visit https://www.bankofutah.com/. BRIGHTON BANK “SKATING IS A BLAST” FREE SKATE CLINIC This year the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Skating Arena hosted over 340 participants in the 14th Annual Brighton Bank “SKATING IS A BLAST” Free Skate clinic. The event included open skating, a 20-minute skating class for all ages and abilities taught by their Professional Ice Skating Staff members, as well as the CHRC Learn-to-Skate staff. The participants were also treated to two separate 20-minute skating exhibitions performed by mem- bers of the Cottonwood Heights Figure Skating Club. Door prizes were provided by Brighton Bank and were given out during the event along with “swag” from the Learn-to-Skate USA program and chocolate-chip cookies provided by Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center. With Christmas and New Year’s Eve both falling on Saturdays this past holiday season, the event was scheduled for a two hour period on Saturday, January 7th, 2017. Although attendance numbers were down at bit this year, the event was a much more positive experience for those who did participate; class sizes were smaller, open skating was less congested and the surface and condition of the ice was much smoother. The skating staff and center received numerous compliments and mentioned recognizing many repeat attendees from previous skate clinics. This event has become an annual event for many in the communi- ty. It continues to have a positive impact on the sport, which results in all the beginning level winter Learn-to-Skate classes being full and each year stimulates more interest in both the figure skating & hockey disciplines.
