www.uba.org 14 O n Friday March 9, the Emerging Bank Leaders Organiza- tion hosted a networking event on the University of Utah Campus. Over 120 bankers and business students attended the event. Randal K. Quarles, Vice Chairman of Supervision for the Federal Reserve Bank was the special guest speaker. His topic was “A Career in Banking: Changing the World for the Better.” Governor Quarles lead a lively discussion with Q & A, on the importance of banking to all other professions. He detailed his own career and encouraged students to step away from what might be their pre-determined path to accept oppor- tunities for growth, noting that they may not end up where they had planned. After his presentation he stayed for lunch visiting with students and bankers in small groups. The event was one of several outreach events planned by the Emerging Bank Lead- ers to reach out to students and help them understand the value of a career in banking. n Emerging Bank Leaders Host Networking Event with Randal K.
