Issue 1. 2018 23 Bank Kudos BANK OF UTAH Noted Utah Economist, Pamela Perlich, Headlined Bank of Utah’s Annual Economic Outlook Events in February for Local Business Leaders Hundreds of business and community leaders attended Bank of Utah’s four Economic Outlook Events in February to learn about Utah’s projected economic growth. Pamela S. Perlich, Ph. D., director of demographic research at University of Utah’s Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, headlined the lectures held in Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake City and Lehi. Perlich leads the Demography Team at the Institute, which pro- duces population estimates and projections at both the commu- nity and state levels. Perlich’s work highlights the great diversity in Utah’s communities and how these change over time. She presented new population data for the four counties and growth, migration, age, and diversity trends. “Bank of Utah sponsors the Economic Outlook Events every year, to provide our bank customers and friends with valuable information in a condensed and accessible format that will help them make plans for the year,” said Douglas L. De Fries, Bank of Utah president. “The Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute pro- duces data and analysis to contribute to informed decisions. We share their philosophy to make data available for communities and small businesses across Utah with the goal to foster sound policy and strong communities.” Bank of Utah, Arctic Circle Restaurants and Red Hanger Delivered 200 bags of Warm Clothing and Cash to Nine Charities for Christmas Bank of Utah, Arctic Circle Restaurants and Red Hanger deliv- ered more than 200 large bags of warm clothing, blankets and cash to nine charities in Utah in time for Christmas. The three locally-owned businesses sponsored the annual Warm Bodies, Warm Souls coat drive Nov. 20 – Dec. 15, which encouraged the public to drop off new or gently-used coats, hats, scarves, gloves, socks and blankets at their 71 combined locations from Tremon- ton to Spanish Fork. To encourage participation, Arctic Circle offered a coupon for a free double cheese burger to those who donated at their restau- rants, Red Hanger gave customers a certificate for a free shirt cleaning for donating at their dry cleaner locations, and Bank of Utah offered donators their choice of coupons. Donations were distributed to Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank and The Lantern House in Ogden, Cache Community Food Pantry in Logan, Tremonton Commu- nity Pantry, New Hope Crisis Center in Brigham City, Tabitha’s Way in Orem, Crossroads Urban Center and The Road Home in Salt Lake City and Bountiful Community Pantry.
