www.uba.org 24 COMENITY CAPITAL BANK Comenity Capital Bank Sponsors Sorenson Impact Center’s “2018 Winter Innovation Summit” Comenity Capital Bank recently provided a $25,000 grant that al- lowed more than 40 local nonprofit organizations serving low-in- come communities, refugees and diverse populations to attend the premier convening of social impact thought leaders and im- pact investing training held every January in Salt Lake City. This year, the Summit was held on the University of Utah campus, in partnership with the David Eccles School of Business, SOCAP, the Sundance Institute, and Salt Lake County. Roughly 658 individu- als representing 5 countries, 32 states, 165 cities, and 426 organiza- tions attended. Attendees heard from 82 speakers during 15 main stage panels and 5 keynotes. Attendees screened three films and heard from response panels to the issues raised in: “Dying in Vein: The Opioid Generation,” “Inventing Tomorrow,” and “Solutions to America’s Workforce Crisis.” Comenity Capital Bank Awards $25,000 to “Shelter the Home- less” for Programs and Services Shelter the Homeless, Inc. a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization creat- ed to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness, is currently building three new Homeless Resource Centers: two in Salt Lake City and one in South Salt Lake. These Resource Centers are part of a broader change to how the system helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Comenity Capital Bank is proud to join Salt Lake County and other donors in the fundrais- ing effort for the new Resource Centers and is especially pleased that the Miller Family is matching the donation for programs and services. Comenity Capital Bank’s Christina Weaver Honored at Utah Philanthropy Day As part of Utah Philanthropy Day, outstanding local philanthro- pists and volunteer leaders are honored for their contributions to the community and the organizations they serve. The United Way of Salt Lake nominated Comenity Capital Bank’s Christina Weav- er for her partnership in 2017. Christina was recognized recently at the annual awards luncheon with the “Hearts & Hands Award.” Christina has worked for Comenity Capital Bank in the compli- ance department for 5 years. She currently supports the commu- nity by mentoring low-income women through the People Helping People Organization and an active member of the Associate En- gagement Committee for Comenity Capital Bank. The awards, presented in February, recognize Utah's top sales and marketing talent—profession- als who have had a measurable impact on their company's bot- tom line.
