www.uba.org 12 M ore than 20 Utah bankers, including a contingency of Emerg- ing Bank Leaders, were among the 1,300 plus bankers from across the country who visited the nation’s capital as part of the 2019 ABA Washington Summit in April. Business sessions provided at- tendees the opportunity to hear directly from key policymak- ers who oversee the banking sector, such as Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo and House Financial Services Committee Chair- woman Maxine Waters, as well as top banking regulators, economists, political strategists and ABA leadership. Utah bankers travelled to Cap- itol Hill where meetings were held with all six members of Utah’s Congressional Delega- tion: Senators Mike Lee and Mitt Romney; Congressmen Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart, John Curtis and Ben McAd- ams. Bankers discussed with each member key issues facing the banking industry and legislative priorities, including: BSA/AML reform, CECL, cannabis banking, data securi- ty/privacy, and credit unions. The ABA Washington Summit is an annual event that pro- vides bankers across America an important opportunity to engage with policymakers and advocate on Capitol Hill. The Summit also includes forums for Women in Banking and Emerging Leaders. Next year’s Washington Summit will be held March 23-25, 2020. n Washington Visit
